ReCII Supports Ibiza’s New Mental-Health Foundation

The headline news is simple: Ibiza now has a new mental-health foundation offering programmes that almost anyone can afford to attend.

Fundación Almaterra, presented last weekend at Juntos Farm, will begin its first community programmes on 15 December, with a minimum contribution of €1. For many people on the island, that changes what “accessible support” actually means.

What Almaterra Is Setting Out to Do

Their first three groups focus on everyday realities: managing stress, navigating grief, and supporting families who care for someone living with mental-health challenges. The groups are small.

Each one is led by two trained specialists. And the emphasis is practical - creating space for people to feel supported without needing to fight their way through long waiting lists or high private-session costs.

It’s a simple structure with a clear purpose: give people somewhere to go before things become overwhelming. The €1 entry point isn’t a gimmick; it’s a statement of intent.

Where ReCII Fits In

At ReCII’s recent Too Much Is Just Enough – Wear What You Dare fundraiser, our members and guests raised €8,500. From that total, we've contributed €2,000 and a further €500 from the spectacular fundraising that goes hand-in-hand with our Ibiza Professionals bi-monthly networking event. This €2,500 was allocated to help Almaterra launch their first programmes.

Our role is modest but meaningful - helping an organisation with a strong social purpose begin its work this year, not at some uncertain point in the future.

Why It Matters

Ibiza has always relied on community to fill the gaps that official systems can’t always reach. Almaterra is stepping into one of the most important ones: ensuring people can access emotional and psychological support early, easily, and without financial hesitation.
